Classes & Instruction

Scroll Saw Instruction

What is a scroll saw and what can you do with it? We’ll spend some time chatting about the different components of the saw, various blade options and how to choose the right one, various material options, how to set up your project, and then spend most of the class time scrolling. While practicing, you’ll be able to ask questions, seek feedback, and receive tips and tricks on how to maneuver your piece for optimal cutting and precision.

Offering private classes at Sparrow’s House woodshop, or small group classes at Woodcraft in Leesburg.

Toolbox Essentials for Women

Ladies, are you looking for beginner instruction in all things wood? Allyson wants to teach you how to fill your toolbox and master power tools, empowering you to tackle DIY projects with confidence!
The class will start with shop safety and introduce basic hand and power tools, including various saws and blades. Most importantly, participants will have hands-on experience to learn how the tools function and become comfortable using them.
Workshops are held throughout the year at Loudoun Market and Woodcraft, or we can come to you for a private event with some of your closest girlfriends.

Girl Scouts Woodworking Badge

With her passion for teaching women and girls the confidence to use tools, Allyson volunteers to lead a workshop where Girl Scouts can earn their Woodworking Badge. During the class, Allyson reviews workshop safety, demonstrates how to use a hammer, level, screwdriver, and scroll saw, and the girls have opportunities to use all of those tools and create their own wooden puzzle. Troop leaders can contact us for more information on scheduling this class.
